Hamster Playtime

This blog enetry will make sure that your hamster is never bored again :)

Below is a list of things to do to keep your hamster entertained:
  1. Hide treats in it's cage
  2. Put toys in it's cage
  3. Handle him / her often (every day if possible)
  4. Put tubes in your hamsters cage
  5. Be Creative!!!! :P
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One good way of keeping hamsters entertained and fit is to hide treets and food in their cage.
Hide it in the sawdust, in cardboard or plastic tubes, or even in playhouses.
This will keep them from getting bored, and from getting up to mischeif, as if they have more things to do in their cage, they will be less likely to try to escape. (most hamsters will like chewing the sides of their cage, so don't be allarmed if they do!)
Put playhouses in their cage, and lots of little toys to keep them entertained.
Here is some examples of things to put in their cage. (modelled by Lolly)
Hamster Fitness
This blog entry will help you keep your hamster fit and healthy.
As most hamster cages are reasonably small, you will need an exercise wheel, so that they can run around as much as they want.
There are two different excircise balls you can get for your pet.
  • The plastic ones
  • The metal ones
My hamster prefers the metal one, but most hamsters will probably prefer a plastic one.
Hamsters are very Curious cretures, and will want to roam about the house every now and again. (if you have cats or dogs, this is not reccommended, as they will scare your hamster). As they are very small they can get into tiny akward gaps, and it can be hard to get them out again.
To prevent you from losing your pet, use a hamster exercise ball. Pic's below :)
Hope this helps keep your hamster fit and healthy!
Hamster diet
This is my hamster Lolly.
She is blond and white, and is sooooo cute! In this photo she is in here little wooden house.
All hamsters need wooden things in their cage, as they need somting to chew on as their teeth never stop growing. Wood doesn't harm hamsters if they eat it, which is why hamsters need it, as if they chew plastic, it can poison them.
Hamsters like to eat a variaty of food, so Harry the hamster, and things like that are perfect for your hamster. Hamsters also like fresh fruit and vegetables, but only give them a small bit each month, otherwise it will affect the amont of water in their diet, and that can give them nasty desieses.
This is the sort of food your hamster will like. Just like mine! :)
More hamster and other animal facts coming soon.
